I’m Laura, the full-time artist, creative and designer behind Bay Leaf Studio. I live with my wife in Adelaide, South Australia, where I spend my time reading, drawing, painting, gardening, hiking, practicing yoga or playing video games.
Illustration and character art always brings me into the flow state where the world disappears and time seems to stand still. After the hustle and bustle of my former role as a content creator, I love the slow and intentional process of capturing the unique personality of the characters I draw for sapphic authors.
Painting with watercolour, unlike digital illustration, teaches me so much about being in the moment and embracing imperfection. I love experimenting with inks and metallic paints to add unique effects to my art. I feel most inspired by the natural world—from leaves and flowers to layering organic shapes with abstract patterns.
